If you have questions about Southern Nevada Pain Center, the frequently asked questions below should will get you started.

What types of pain do you treat?

We diagnose and treat all types of pain. From minor sprains and strains to chronic degenerative conditions, we will evaluate your condition and provide individualized care.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to become a patient?

We accept patients that are both referred and those that are not. In fact, some of our current patients heard about us through friends or family.

Do you take my insurance?

We take most insurance plans including commercial insurance, Medicare, worker’s comp, and select attorney liens. See our listing of insurances accepted.

Once I get an appointment, what happens next?

Once you have an appointment scheduled to see us, a new patient packet will be mailed to you. These packets contain forms such as insurance and contact information, medical history questionnaire, and confidentiality information. Please read and fill out these forms to the best of your ability so on your appointment day there will less time spent filling out paperwork! These forms can also be downloaded from our website.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Once you arrive to our office please have ready the new patient forms, your insurance card, a photo ID, and any co-pays that are required by your insurance plan.

What medical information should I gather prior to my visit?

An accurate and up to date record of your condition is vital to providing you with the best care possible. If another doctor has referred you, then there is a good chance that some of those records have been sent to us prior to your visit. It is always a good idea to have the following records available for the doctors to review:

  • A list of all your medications along with doses. Pill bottles are also good to bring.
  • X-rays, MRI, CT scans, etc. that have been performed to evaluate your pain condition. If you do not have or cannot obtain the films or reports, any records as to where these studies were performed would be very helpful.
  • A list of doctors you have seen in the past that have evaluated and treated you for your current pain condition.

I have a procedure scheduled, what documents should I bring with me?

On the day of your procedure please bring your insurance cards, a photo ID, and any co-payments required at the time of check-in.

May I eat before my procedure?

Because sedation is given for these procedures, we require certain guidelines to be followed:

  • Nothing by mouth for three hours prior to the procedure.
  • No solid foods six hours before your procedure.
  • You may drink clear liquids such as water or soda only up to three hours before your procedure. No milk or dairy products or particle-containing liquids such as orange juice. Coffee is ok but no creamer.

Will I need a ride home after sedation?

Yes

What medications must I stop taking before my procedure?

Some medications must be stopped before a procedure. Please ask your physician for further instructions.

What should I wear the day of my procedure?

Please wear two-piece clothing with an elastic waistband.

What are my physical restrictions after my procedure?

Following the procedure, there may be some associated soreness. Medication to numb the local area may also be used resulting in a mild temporary weakness. Sedation given during the procedure may cause you to feel sleepy. Given these conditions we recommend rest the day of your procedure. No heavy lifting, or strenuous activity. You can return to your normal activity the next day.

May I drive home after an injection?

Patients who receive an injection must have a ride home. The sedation along with the medications during the procedure will affect concentration and reaction times.

May I work on the day of an injection?

You should plan to take the day off from work the day have the procedure performed. You can return to work the next day.
